Get Involved with BCT

Thank you for your interest! We rely on volunteers to help keep our mission alive and thriving. There are many ways to get involved. If you have a talent you’d like to share that isn’t captured in the opportunities below, let us know!

Walking School Bus (currently serving Fairhope West and East Elementary Schools)

Walk to school: Skip the car line and walk with your child; drop them off at the designated location so they can walk; or become a Walking School Bus sponsor. Contact Charlene Lee: walkingschoolbusfes@gmail.com or 251-402-2795.

Start a Walk-to-School program: We can help you conduct a walkability audit and reach out to your child’s school principal.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer to staff a Bike Valet: Help park bikes at the Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival & other fun festivals. The Trailblazers co-sponsor this complimentary service.

Adopt the Trail: Choose a quarter mile section of the trail for light maintenance (sweeping, removing litter and keeping hazards off the Trail).

Pick up litter: Join us at the Alabama Coastal Cleanup each September.

Join a BCT committee! Committees meet for one or two hours, once a month to work on core issues including Community Outreach, Trail Maintenance/Development; and Programs including Walking School Bus.

Email us for more information about volunteer opportunities.

Stay connected: Follow us on FB and Instagram. Taking a photo on the trail? Be sure to tag Baldwin County Trailblazers!

Trail Upkeep

Keep it clean: For the safety of trail users, residents who live along the southern leg of the trail (Scenic Highway 98 between The Grand Hotel and Weeks Bay) can call the Baldwin County Solid Waste Department at 251-972-6878 or 251-937-0249 to pick up yard waste from road shoulder or Trail.

Share the road: Alabama law requires drivers to leave at least a 3-foot space when passing bicycles. Be kind, slow down for cyclists and pedestrians, and yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.
